This is AMAZING! We live in Los Angeles and are considering covering our home in beveled redwood planks. I think I like how this looks even better than our current choice. I am curious as to how you came to use this particular wood as opposed to redwood or others? I’m also concerned with price. Any input would be MUCH appreciated. I love, love, love your work. This will inspire us for sure! Thanks in advance, Cynthia
i’m not sure what wood is redwood. however iroko is a mid-price range tropical hardwood from susteinable sources. It looks and performs very similarly to teak, but costs 1/3 of teak price. Similarly priced durable hardwoods are Ipe and bangkirai, which is acctually slightly less expensive but not as beautiful. From softwoods the only alternative available in Greece is Siberian Larch, which is not the most appropriate wood for greek climate. Interesting alternative would be the new types of thermaly treated wood like Accoya or similar, however they are not yet available here.
